Explora Films, awarded at FICCAD 2013
The documentary 'Elephants: the twilight of the giants' receives the distinction from the jury of the 2013 Doñana Scientific and Environmental Film Festival.
The jury of the 2013 Doñana Scientific and Environmental Film Festival has decided to award the Explora Films documentary Elephants: the decline of the giants, directed by Fernando González Sitges.
The Festival, which took place during the first week of October (from September 30 to October 6) has brought together a selection of great nature productions from recent years. Explora Films has finally won the main award: The one awarded by the BBVA Foundation to the best feature film and which was endowed with 1,500 euros.
Elephants, the twilight of the giants (1 x 52') is a documentary produced by Explora Films in 2010 and that brings us closer to beings that appeared on Earth 50 million years ago, long before human beings emerged as a species, and that were distributed throughout all latitudes to the very limit of the perpetual ice. An evolutionary success that is due, more than any other factor, to their extraordinary family ties. It is a documentary with an increasingly relevant message: The importance of animal protection. Elephants, as explained in the documentary, turn out to be one of the most endangered species in the natural world.
This Explora Films production has previously won awards in several competitions such as the Telenatura Festival 2010 (Best Spanish Production), the Festival l'Oiseau de la Nature or the prestigious International Wildlife Film Festival of Montana, both in 2011, or more recently at the Stambecco D'Oro Festival in 2012.
