The file is opened when the CNMC understands that Cuatro and Telecinco have exceeded the limit of broadcast time dedicated to advertising and telesales messages.

Telecinco Mediaset

The National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) has approved the opening of a sanctioning file against Mediaset for possible non-compliance with article 14.1 of the General Law of Audiovisual Communication (Law 7/2010).

Specifically, Mediaset (file SNC/DTSA/2064/14) on its television channels Cuatro and Telecinco, has been able to violate the provisions of art. 14.1 of the LGA by having exceeded the limit of broadcast time dedicated to advertising and telesales messages regulated in this legal provision (maximum of 12 minutes of advertising messages per clock hour).

These events could involve minor administrative infractions, which would entail the imposition of a fine of up to 100,000 euros for each infraction.

However, the initiation of these files does not prejudge the final result of the investigation. This begins a maximum period of 6 months for the investigation of the file and its resolution. Mediaset will have fifteen days to present allegations.
