JVC's private MESH network solves the problem of congestion and provides bandwidth of up to 85 Mbps, which is significantly higher than that offered by transmission systems over standard or even dedicated cellular telephone networks.

MESHJVC In this edition of NAB 2015, is unveiling the MESH network, an ideal solution for multi-camera coverage of outdoor events that uses an exclusive connectivity solution based on the Silvus two-way radio system, which allows very high quality streaming video to be transmitted from remote locations with great reliability.

JVC already has several ProHD and 4KCAM camcorders that offer robust and reliable video streaming, suitable for use in the broadcast field. With features derived from Zixi's AST (Advanced Streaming Technology) technology, which incorporates predictive error correction and new adaptive bit rate technology, JVC camcorders maximize bandwidth by delivering high-quality live HD video with less loss than standard UDP streaming. Since current IP streaming solutions typically rely on public Wi-Fi or broadband networks, network congestion can impact live connections, limiting their applicability in many circumstances.

JVC's private MESH network solves the problem of congestion and provides bandwidth of up to 85 Mbps, which is significantly higher than that offered by transmission systems over standard or even dedicated cellular telephone networks. And when paired with the Silvus two-way radio system, the JVC system offers even greater reliability. In addition, the private MESH network offers much greater transmission distances than Wi-Fi systems, provides direct and secure video streaming, and has a degree of two-way communication that allows cameras to be configured from remote locations.

The MESH network is an independent and isolated network that works using mobile nodes that can communicate while moving and without requiring any type of fixed infrastructure. Although JVC's MESH network has been designed as a MANET (Mobile Ad-Hoc Network) system, the nodes can be permanently installed in locations such as sports stadiums or public buildings where broadcasters frequently need to make live connections for their news.

Each node in the JVC MESH system is a Silvus radio transceiver, which serves as both transmitter and receiver, creating a flexible, self-managing, self-healing network.

Available radio options include a camera node that connects directly to a JVC camcorder, which receives a stream directly from the camera (a JVC exclusive), a mobile repeater node designed for use in vehicles, a fixed repeater node for fixed locations within wireless coverage areas, and a destination access point that primarily serves as a receiver for live streaming or file transfer.

The network is easy to set up and requires very little knowledge to operate. Decisions about the most appropriate routing at any given time are made automatically, and the network can be managed from any transceiver. The number of nodes needed to cover an event logically depends on the size of the area and the topography of the region.

The JVC MESH system uses MIMO (Multi In Multi Out) technology, which supports 4 transmission channels and 4 reception channels. Traditional systems use a two-dimensional signaling space (by time and frequency), but MIMO systems add a third spatial dimension to allow the transmission of multiple signals over multiple signal paths at the same time and at the same frequency. All streaming streams operate at the same frequency, but each antenna transmits a unique data stream that is recovered at the receiver through sophisticated signal processing.
