Telefónica launches a new satellite broadcast contribution service in Ka Band

This wholesale solution, designed for the television and broadcasting industry, has enormous potential to meet the needs of audiovisual media, since it allows live broadcasts.

Telefónica Business Solutions has launched through its Wholesale business unit a new Internet service for satellite video transmission in KA band, which is transmitted through Telefónica's Media Networks platform.

This service was used during the Mexican Federal Elections last June and in the 2015 Copa América recently held in Chile. In both cases, transmissions were carried out through the use of 5 dedicated channels of 2 Mbps each.

This solution, designed for the television and broadcasting industry, has enormous potential to meet the needs of audiovisual media, because it allows live broadcasts (from any point within the coverage areas) and is an ideal solution for the coverage of news, sports and other events.

Unlike other solutions, the service offers dedicated bandwidth for each case, considering maximum capacities of 18 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. This new alternative surpasses other existing solutions on the market due to its competitive cost and because it prioritizes uploading the video.
