Avid has summoned Be Inspired, a short film competition aimed at young filmmakers from Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India.
Tom Cordiner, vice president of International Business at Avid, stressed that "Avid is committed to supporting the next generation of editors, who are vitally important to the future of the creative industries. Our education programs, including the creation of an Education Council within the Avid user association, serve to provide talented students with opportunities to hone the skills they will need in the post-production sector."
Students have until October 11, 2015 to produce a two-minute film about whatever inspires them.
The jury will be made up of high-profile editors such as Anne-Sophie Bion (editor of films such as The Artist o Micmacs), Mick Audsley (BAFTA winner and film editor such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire y Captain Corelli's Mandolin, as well as the next Everest), Toni Froschhammer (German editor, with films to his credit such as Pina, Oscar nominated, or The Salt of the Earth for director Wim Wenders) and Paddy Bird (editor of documentaries and television series with works such as Home for the Holidays o The Secret Millionaire).
The three winning students will enjoy several prizes including a trip to London to share a day of mentoring with one of the most renowned editors, and a one-year subscription to the Inside the Edit courses, as well as the Media Composer and Pro Tools software.
