RTVE will reinforce coverage of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games

RTVE is committed to offering, through its channels and website, coverage of the Rio Paralympic Games: opening and closing ceremonies, and tests of the disciplines in which Spanish athletes participate.

Spanish Radio and Television reinforces its commitment to Paralympic sport and will provide complete coverage of the Rio Paralympic Games. The Corporation has just signed a collaboration agreement regarding the coverage plan for the Games, which will be held from September 7 to 18, 2016.

This agreement has been signed by the president of RTVE, José Antonio Sánchez; the president of the Higher Sports Council, Miguel Cardenal; Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga; and Miguel Carballeda, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee.

José Antonio Sánchez has pointed out that with this agreement “we reaffirm our commitment to the Paralympic Games”, and has explained that the Corporation's channels “will report on the opening gala, the closing ceremony and all sporting events, on La 1, La 2, 24 Horas, Teledeporte, on RNE and on RTVE.es”.

Miguel Cardenal has described RTVE as "a wonderful partner and always aware of sport. It was in London, with the greatest coverage of the Paralympic Games, and it will be with the challenge of Rio 2016." For the Higher Sports Council, “Paralympic sport is a permanent stimulus.”

For Miguel Carballeda, "with this signature we are made visible through public Spanish Radio and Television. Paralympic sport and citizens will be able to share successes again."

Finally, Javier Tebas recalled that the agreement has been ratified by all the clubs in the League.

Through this agreement, RTVE undertakes to offer, through its channels and website, coverage of the Rio Paralympic Games: opening and closing ceremonies, and tests of the disciplines in which Spanish athletes participate. To do this, it will directly assume some of the production costs and will provide technical means and personnel.

The organization of the 2016 Paralympic Games involves the participation of more than 100,000 people, including 70,000 volunteers. It is estimated that the Games will have a relevant impact for millions of people in the city, in Brazil and on the American continent. More than 4,200 Paralympic athletes from nearly 150 countries are expected, in addition to thousands of press professionals, support professionals, sports enthusiasts and tourists from all over the world.
