Glookast and Object Matrix guarantee smooth production at the Tv Globo center in Rio de Janeiro

Glookast and Object Matrix solutions ensure disaster recovery and business continuity at Tv Globo's fiction production center in Rio de Janeiro.

The MXF workflow specialist, Glookast, together Object Matrix, a company specialized in advanced storage and archiving, have deployed their platforms for disaster recovery and business continuity in Tv Globo's fiction production center in Rio de Janeiro.

A single solution enables automatic or on-demand archiving of content using the Avid Interplay interface, therefore in full resolution and low resolution content, available both in the production center itself and at the disaster recovery location.

Mauricio Félix, director of project and support technology at Globo, maintains that "ensuring that work can continue in any of our production facilities is of utmost importance. We require not only seamless business continuity, but also an automated workflow, capable of ensuring that the change of project, the movement of assets, the editing of a clip or the deletion of assets, is immediately and automatically reflected in our disaster recovery site. After much consideration, we have determined that the implementation of a recovery strategy “The combination of our editors’ ability to continue working regardless of local outages with the ability to seamlessly bring content back to the primary location is what impressed us the most.”

Glookast's Media Retriever, Media Transformer, Media Parker and Glooport solutions have been installed, ensuring that all working resolution clips can be created and made available, with all their metadata, to editors at the disaster recovery location. This technology is also used to ensure that full or partial resolution clips can be automatically restored and logged to the Avid Interplay system located in the disaster recovery center.

For its part, Object Matrix's MatrixStore solution was selected by Globo to guarantee data protection and availability in multiple locations, ensuring publishers access content anywhere with little or no downtime. As Globo's storage requirements grew, the Brazilian broadcaster required a system that could scale in line with capacity, availability and workflow requirements.
