The head of International Relations at AMETIC assumes the vice presidency of the European Federation of the ICT, Electronics, Digital Content and Telecommunications Industry.
Ventura Pobre Prieto, member of the Board of Directors and head of International Relations at AMETIC, has been elected vice president of DigitalEurope, the European Federation of the ICT, Electronics, Digital Content and Telecommunications Industry made up of 40 national associations and 65 corporations from all over Europe.
The appointment has taken place with the majority support of the national associations and companies represented in the aforementioned body, of which its new vice-president was already a member of the Executive Committee since mid-2014. For his part, Markus Borchert, president of Nokia Europe, has been promoted to the presidency of the body. DigitalEurope encourages and supports the development of the Digital Economy at European level, something to which AMETIC itself is seriously committed.
An Industrial Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the new vice president of DigitalEurope has directed, since 1982, multinational companies in the Electronics sector, in Spain, Germany, South America and the United States. Professor at EADA Barcelona, he is currently a member of the Board of Directors and responsible for International Relations at AMETIC.
This designation comes to reward the work carried out within DigitalEurope by Ventura Pobre, his active participation in the planning of the strategies of the European employers' association. And it also constitutes a recognition of the role of AMETIC for its promotion of the development of a single European digital market, its support for companies in the ICT sector of all sizes and, also, its willingness to promote the digital transformation of the Spanish economy.
Ventura Pobre has pointed out that "we work to achieve a European Union that encourages and supports industries that base their activity on digital technology, that prospers and grows with the jobs we create, that competes with the innovation and economic benefits we generate, and that evolves with the changes we propose to society with our products and services."
Within AMETIC, the work of the more than 60 Areas and Commissions that cover the entire spectrum of the Electronic Industry, Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Digital Content, continuously nourished with information from DigitalEurope, has made it possible to develop initiatives, propose modifications and, ultimately, participate in the development of the European Digital Strategy.
"Now, as the Vice-Presidency of DigitalEurope, we will promote concrete proposals to go faster in the European digital transformation, that is, of our productive sectors, our public administrations and our educational system, based on promoting the development of digital skills in the EU, increasing the effort in ICT R&D with large European driving projects, which are truly transformative, and proposing measures that strengthen our industry," he added.
