British producer Donald Ranvaud dies
Committed to Latin American cinema, the producer of films such as 'City of God' and 'Central Station' died at the age of 62 while attending the Montreal Film Festival as a member of the jury.
The film industry has lost one of the British producers who has most supported Latin American cinema. Donald Ranvaud died this Monday while attending the Montreal Film Festival (Canada) as a jury member. Radio Canada, the northern country's French-language public broadcaster, reported that Ranvaud had been discovered in his hotel room.
Films like the Brazilian ones are owed to Ranvaud City of God (by Fernando Meirelles) and Brazil Central Station (by Wálter Salles) or box office hits like The faithful gardener (also directed by Meirelles and with which Rachel Weisz won an Oscar for best supporting actress) or Goodbye to my concubine.
Donald Ranvaud, who produced nearly forty titles, was now working on several projects such as Blue Weekend, Something About Her o Weak Earth.
