Millennials and television: what programs they watch and how they consume
The population between 21 and 36 years old represents a fifth of the television audience, consuming a daily average of 157 minutes. A report analyzes your consumer habits.
Millennials, aged between 21 and 36, represent 20.1% of the population aged 4 or over. These 8.9 million represent a fifth of the television audience. Windward Communication has just published a report in which it reveals some interesting data about the relationship of this population group with respect to the environment.
Millennials consume 157 minutes on average daily (70 minutes less than the total number of individuals) and 63.4% admit that they watch television daily. It is striking that the older the individual is, the greater the amount of time he or she spends watching television. Individuals aged 33 are those who watch the most television time on average daily with 189 minutes.
The young people who consume the most television are Extremadurans (183 minutes daily average), followed by Galicians (179 minutes) and Castilians from La Mancha (174 minutes). On the contrary, Millennials from the Balearic Islands (141 minutes), Madrid (146 minutes) and the Basque Country (146 minutes) are the ones who spend the least time per day watching television.
It is also worth noting that millennials watch television mostly alone (44%), but compared to all individuals, their percentage of group viewing is higher (18% vs. 14%).
The periods of the day in which millennials have a greater representation of the total audience are early morning and late-night from Monday to Sunday.
Favorite chains
In the current year, the ranking of channels of the millennial group is headed by Telecinco, with 14.9%, followed by Antena 3 (11.4%), paid themes (9%), Cuatro (7.6%), LaSexta (6.8%), La1 (5.9%), Neox (5.5%), FDF-T5 (5.2%), regional (5.1%) and Clan (2.8%). The broadcast most watched by millennials so far this year were the Champions League soccer penalties between Real Madrid and At. Madrid with 1,901,000 average audience and 66.9%.
In terms of series, the Spanish production that attracted the most millennials was the broadcast of The one that is coming on April 5 with 1,298,000 viewers and 41.3%, while in foreign series, the most watched episode was the one corresponding to June 20, Quantico, with 423,000 viewers and 15.2% share.
The most watched information broadcast was the program Saved (LaSexta) on February 21 with 721,000 viewers and a 23% share, while the contest most watched by millennials was The Voice: Blind Auditions (Telecinco) with 705,000 average audience and 32.2%.
