'Abracadabra', Pablo Berger's new film will hit theaters on August 4

Actress Maribel Verdú, producer Ibon Cormenzana, director of photography Kiko de la Rica, art director Alain Bainée, costume designer Paco Delgado, among others, come together again in this “hypnotic comedy.”

Pablo Berger will release his new film on August 4 Abracadabra. A “hypnotic comedy” that presents the story of Carmen, a housewife who faithfully follows the old Spanish saying “better a bad person known than a good one unknown.” Berger has highlighted that while “snow white, my previous film, was in contrasted black and white, Abracadabra It is in saturated colors. Where snow white youth era, Abracadabra It's noisy. Where snow white It was a gothic melodrama, Abracadabra It's a black comedy. And so, ad infinitum…”

The actress Maribel Verdú, the producer Ibon Cormenzana, the director of photography Kiko de la Rica, the art director Alain Bainée and the costume designer Paco Delgado, among others, come together again in this film. “I was clear, I wanted to do something very different from snow white, but with the same technical and artistic team,” acknowledges the director.

After the successful experience of snow white, Maribel Verdú repeats with the director as the main protagonist of Abracadabra, accompanied by great actors such as Antonio De La Torre, José Mota, Quim Gutiérrez and José María Pou. Between Pablo Berger and this brilliant group of actors, there are a total of 22 nominations and 6 Goya awards, since all of them have received at least one nomination for these awards.

The editing of the film has been in the hands of David Gallart while the sound design, always so careful in Berger's work, has been supervised by Fabiola Ordoyo, with Aitor Berenguer in the direct sound and Nicolas de Poulpiquet in the mixes. From the special effects of Abracadabra Jordi San Agustín has been in charge. Cameras were used for filming. ARRI Alexa supplied by the French TSF.

The film is a production of Arcadia Motion Pictures and Perséfone Films AIE, in co-production with Noodles Production (France), with the participation of Atresmedia Cine, Movistar+ and Scope Pictures (Belgium). Distribution in Spain will be handled by Sony Pictures, and international sales will be managed by Films Distribution.
