Edius, ahora compatible con High Dynamic Range (HDR) y Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG)

Grass Valley's editing solution offers greater performance in version 9 and will be available for purchase, without the need for a subscription.

Grass Valley has just released version 9 of its Edius editor. The main novelty is that the new Edius is compatible with High Dynamic Range (HDR). In addition to the typical established Log, it is fully compatible with the Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) included in several recently introduced Sony and Panasonic cameras. With HLG, the image will look great on any standard display and will look even better on an HDR monitor.

The editor is able to detect the recorded color space and automatically applies the correct settings for native editing. Supports a wide range of HDR sources (PG and HLG), including professional cameras, drones, action cameras and smartphones, converts from SDR and Log to HDR and allows mixing SDR and HDR on the same timeline. Supported I/O cards and monitors enable true HDR preview. HDR projects can be exported for
playback (as H.264, 10-bit, 4:2:2) on HDR TVs and YouTube.

On top of all this, Edius 9 supports a wide range of color spaces, including BT.2020 and BT.2100. And now natively supports Canon C200 Cinema Raw Light and 10-bit Cinema DNG.

No subscription plan

Grass Valley continues the “buy once, use forever” ownership model. Users are not forced into any subscription plan. A new floating license model will also be available for enterprise customers that allows great flexibility for larger companies that can now have Edius installed on multiple computers, only taking into account that the maximum number of concurrent users will be the number of licenses purchased.

Additionally, the editor can now be used in the cloud with direct access to cloud-based resources, eliminating the need to update and download large amounts of data.

As with previous releases, Grass Valley will continually add new features to Edius 9, with all additional features available for free to users over the approximately two-year life of this solution. This will include new tools and features such as automatic multi-track audio synchronization, H.265 file export, 8K and High Frame Rate support, and many others coming soon.

Edius will be available as Edius Pro 9 and EDIUS Workgroup 9. Edius Pro 9 is intended for journalists, editors and creative filmmakers. The Workgroup version addresses work teams with more requirements: television stations and live event production teams. Edius Workgroup 9 users who are already editing UHD at 50p/60p will appreciate the new ability to preview UHD at 50p/60p using a compatible third-party I/O card made by companies such as Blackmagic Design or AJA. Support for background rendering will also be added throughout the free Edius Workgroup 9.x updates.
