Nokia, the “Bell Labs” and the new “distributed reality”, at the VR Observatory in Malaga

Nokia's Bell Labs will demonstrate at the VR Observatory the results of some projects in relation to distributed reality, immersive and 360 video, multi-access and Edge Computing.

The director of the Nokia Bell Labs Spain, Álvaro Villegas, will present in July at the VR Observatory of Malaga the new concept of “distributed reality”.

The VR Observatory, which will take place on July 18 and 19 in it Malaga Digital Content Hub, is the main multidisciplinary event held in Spain on these new technologies (VR, AR, MR, 360, eSports, Video Games, Serious Games...).

Distributed reality, according to Nokia, conceives a new paradigm for human communications over 5G networks (the fifth generation of Telecommunications).

In addition to Nokia, NASA, Samsung and universities such as the University of Cambridge, among others, will be present with their projects and innovations in the second edition of an international event that allows a panoramic and critical vision, differentiated from other forums that only address these fields vertically.

Specifically, Nokia's Bell Labs will also show the results of some innovation projects in the VR Observatory Demo Area where attendees will be able to see solutions for immersive video, others of video 360 using multi-access techniques, Edge Computing and an experience of distributed reality.

In addition, doctoral researcher María Esther Guervós will present the results of a study of the subjective quality of the immersive education experience with real students from the University. This study has been carried out within the framework of a Nokia research project, the Alfonso X El Sabio Foundation and the Banco de Santander.
