AJA demonstrates its innovations for UHD environments at the 4K Summit
Among the new features that AJA is announcing at the 4K Summit, the AJA Ki Pro Ultra Plus recorder and the FS-HDR converter stand out, which opens up interesting possibilities for converting SDR material to HDR and camera curves to HD.
AJA did not want to miss the fourth edition of the 4K Summit, the largest global summit dedicated to Ultra Definition that is being held these days at the Digital Content Center in Malaga.
In its demo set, AJA is carrying out demonstrations with some of its latest solutions which aim to facilitate workflow with 4K UHD content.
Among these solutions, the recorder stands out AJA Ki Pro Ultra Plus, a desktop computer capable of recording 4K (1 signal) or HD video signals (up to 4 simultaneous channels) on SSD hard drives. In both cases on the popular Apple ProRes codec with different compression levels).
This proposal includes HD-SDI connections (with loop), sockets to locate up to 4 LC fiber optic transceivers (not included) and analog audio multi-connector.
FS-HDR Converter
Also notable at the 4K Summit is the presence of FS-HDR converter from AJA, demonstrating the possibilities of converting SDR material to HDR and camera curves to HD.
Designed for 1RU rack mounting, the FS-HDR is a universal frame converter and synchronizer, specifically intended to meet the needs of HDR (High Dynamic Range) and WCG (Extended Color Gamut) in broadcast AV, OTT, post-production and live events environments, where real-time, low-latency processing and color fidelity are required for 4K/UltraHD and 2K/HD workflows.
Developed in partnership with Colorfront, FS-HDR's HDR/WCG functionality operates thanks to Colorfront Engine's proprietary video processing algorithms.
This solution is perfect for carrying out a complete conversion of one channel, being able to transform, convert and synchronize 4K/UltraHD/2K/HD HDR and in 4-Channel mode, it offers 4 independent channels of 2K/HD conversion including HDR conversions.
It now includes new intuitive parametric controls that allow the user to fine-tune the look of final transformations in FS-HDR, and adds support for Sony S-S-LOG3 Gamut3 Cine and S-LOG3 BT.2020 camera formats.
FS-HDR brings 17 new controls to FS-HDR, including 12 for color correction (red, green, blue, and lift, gamma, and gain master controls), one for color saturation, two for input formats (Log look and SDR softness), and two for adjusting output in signal light compensation and HDR ambient. Each control is accessed through the front FS-HDR panel, from the Web GUI in any browser or REST interface, and settings can be stored in a preset for later recall or copied to other FS-HDR units.
For those who regularly work with 4K workflows, AJA offers another interesting solution. IO 4K Plus offers post-production professionals connectivity with great flexibility in terms of 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0 inputs and outputs and advanced audio.
Ataking advantage of Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth, supports 4K Ultra HD and HD workflows, high frame rate, rich color and HDR. Compatible with the latest 4K UltraHD devices, IO 4K Plus also includes AJA's proven conversion technology for real-time, high-quality upscaling of 4K and UltraHD to HD for monitoring and output.
Plus, it's compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro, Apple FCP X, and Avid Media Composer, among other standard creative tools.
Finally, note the presence on the AJA set at the 4K Summit of a wide variety of converters such as the popular Hi5-4K, 12GDA or the family of SDI to fiber optic converters such as the FiDO-TR-126 or FiDO-4T.
