Netflix tests interactive plots with an episode of 'Black Mirror'
After experimenting with interactivity in several children's series, Netflix now gives the viewer the opportunity to make crucial decisions about the story.
Netflix premieres this Friday, December 28, the last chapter of the popular series Black Mirror. In the chapter titled Bandersnatch, Netflix has decided experiment with interactivity offering viewers the chance to make crucial decisions about the story.
Although the platform had already experimented with a certain degree of interactivity in children's productions, now is the first time it has premiered this format in a successful series for adult audiences.
In this new story, Stefan, a computer programmer who starts working at a video game company, aims to revolutionize the market by turning the novel Bandersnatch in a video game, a project that will begin to obsess him, something similar to what happened to the author of the book.
He footage has a duration of 300 minutes which will allow the viewer to direct the development of the chapter by choosing between several narrative options.
The creators of this story are Charlie Brooker and the production company Annabel Jones, who work in the universe Black Mirror since its inception, directing the interactive episode David Slade.
Slade was already behind the cameras Black Mirror in the episode Metalhead and is the director of Hard Candy, 30 Days of Darkness, Twilight: Eclipse and episodes of series like Hannibal or American Gods.
