Evertz accuses Lawo of infringe seven related patentss with video routing and switching technologies.

Lawo and Evertz

Faced with the accusation of Evertz about a alleged patent infringement on the part of Theirs, the German company has strongly denied any wrongdoing and believes the allegedly infringed patents are invalid.

“Lawo will vigorously defend itself against the unfounded claims that Evertz alleges since in its opinion no crime has been committed,” they say from Lawo.

Evertz has presented a Patent Infringement Lawsuit in the United States District Court in Delaware, a separate lawsuit in canada, and in a press release has accused Lawo of infringe seven related patentss with Evertz IP-based video routing and switching technology and multi-picture, multi-screen video processing.

Romolo Magarelli"Evertz is proud to lead the industry with cutting-edge products. We have invested many years and tens of millions in developing our industry-leading IP-based broadcast solutions. We are taking this legal action to protect our investment and our intellectual property," said Evertz CEO, Romolo Magarelli.

The Delaware lawsuit will proceed in parallel with previous litigation brought by Evertz in Ontario Superior Court against Lawo and several former Evertz employees for breach of contract, breach of trust and other torts.

Lawo highlights that the press release distributed by Evertz does not indicate that The Canadian lawsuit was dismissed by the court on February 28, 2019 because Evertz did not articulate a material basis for his claim. Furthermore, Evertz failed to state in the amended complaint it filed in the United States that its Canadian stock had been affected.

Claudia NowakClaudia Nowak, CFO of Lawo, stressed that "as we approach our 50 years of business, our clients understand that honesty and integrity have formed the pillar of our success over these years. We believe that our success has made us the target of Evertz. We will vigorously defend the claims and take all appropriate legal action against Evertz. Business will continue as usual and there should be no impact on our clients while these matters are pending."
