LiveU Matrix to handle contributions from more than 200 CBS affiliates

The efficient combination of IP live video management and hardware-based HEVC encoding has been key for CBS Newspath to implement the LiveU content management service.

LiveU y CBS Newspath have announced at NAB 2019 a multi-year agreement for LiveU Matrix is responsible for the contribution and delivery of live content to its more than 200 affiliates and seven global news agencies.

LiveU Matrix is a highly efficient content curation service that allows newsroom managers to offer hundreds of affiliates unprecedented access to live feeds from LiveU units in the field and other sources without interruptions, additional resources or costly fees.

Tim Gaughan, vice president of news services at CBS News, highlighted that “the move to LiveU Matrix is fundamental to our strategy of reducing our dependence on satellite and fiber technology, while allowing us greater flexibility in news gathering and content sharing.”

Matrix, a dynamic cloud platform, makes it easy to direct content through an interface. Users can easily search, filter, preview and distribute live feeds.

This powerful tool includes tagging and metadata insertion and artificial intelligence functions that allow broadcasters to search, identify, classify and route objects and people.
