With the existing studio and its remote production center, in addition to virtual reality tools, Telia has all the necessary resources to fulfill its specific task of making Finland a reference country in eSports.

Telia Sports Series

The telecommunications provider Telia has started a new esports league in Finland at the end of April. Telia eSports Series uses virtual reality studios and solutions provided by Broadcast Solutions.

Telia Esports Series is designed for both players and viewers, as the weekly league is broadcast on Finnish national television and internationally via the Twitch channel. Telia has launched this initiative together with company Assembly, and the starting tournament has been the computer game Global Offensivee and mobile gaming Arena of Valor. The total prize money is 50,000 euros for which the best sports teams in Finland will compete.

Broadcast Solutions recently implemented a state-of-the-art remote production center with virtual studio facilities for the production of Finnish Ice Hockey by Streamteam/Telia. Some of this infrastructure is currently used to produce the Telia Esports series. This dual use underlines once again the flexibility of the hub and the virtual technology implemented by Broadcast Solutions. The eSports studio and room are located in a production facility 2 kilometers from the remote production center. For the virtual environment, Broadcast Solutions technology from the virtual reality company is used. Zero Density, in addition to the remodeling and implementation of a commercially available virtual set.

The studio is primarily used for horse racing programs, changing the studio look to eSports setup in just 10 seconds plus the time to change the studio table, a quick and easy to operate solution. As a specialty, during horse racing shows the studio production takes place in 1080i50 while the hub and all eSports production takes place in 1080p50. The remote production system makes this transition from 1080i50 to 1080p50 possible.
