The jury has chosen the winners from among the 21 finalists selected by a committee of experts from the Malaga Festival, after receiving a total of 517 works.

A jury made up of renowned professionals in the sector has selected the seven winners of the Málaga 4K Fest, international short film festival in 4K-Ultra High Definition (UHD) organized by Medina Media Events and whose technical direction has been carried out since this year by the Malaga Festival.

This incorporation has given a decisive boost to the internationalization of this initiative that the Spanish satellite company launched in 2015. Hispasat. Málaga 4K Fest has, among others, the support of companies that have been committed to 4K for years, such as RTVE, Atresmedia, Dolby, Ad Hoc Studios, Fujinon, Sgo, Hispasat, Medina Media 4K and the UHD World Forum, which sponsors the seven awards.

He jury has chosen the winners from among the 21 finalists selected by a committee of experts from the Malaga Festival, after receiving a total of 517 works. This figure quadruples that of the last edition, when 127 were presented. The countries of origin of the works have also increased, going from 17 to 47. This jury was made up of Cristina Pérez Cantó, Director of Communication at Hispasat; Samuel Martín Mateos, director of RTVE's La2; Elena Ceballos, Director of Marketing and PR for Southern Europe at Dolby Laboratories; Salvador Luna, Manager Photo Imaging and Optical Devices at Fujifilm Spain; Luis León Luri, coordinator of thematic channels at Atresmedia; Javier Valdés, founder and owner of Ad Hoc Studios; María Medina, commercial director of Medina Media; Noemí Ruiz, actress; Javier Pereira, actor; Benjamin Schwarz, Communications Chairman of Ultra HD Forum; Juan Antonio Vigar, director of the Malaga Festival; and Miguel Ángel Doncel, CEO of Sgo.

The total of short films received this year came from Spain (321 shorts), France (34), Argentina (29), Brazil (19), Mexico, Colombia and South Korea (all three with 11), Iran (8), Chile, USA, India and Italy (with 6), United Kingdom (4), Netherlands, Peru, Czech Republic and Switzerland (3), Germany, China, Egypt, Greece, Nepal, Russia, Sweden and Turkey (2), Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Canada, Cuba, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco, Poland, Serbia, Singapore, Syria, Uruguay, Venezuela and Vietnam (all with 1). Other co-producing countries are Ecuador, Japan, Nicaragua, Qatar and Romania.

The Málaga 4K Fest awards ceremony will take place on November 8 at the Albéniz Cinema, with the presence of the most important executives of the 4K technology and content industry worldwide, who attend the 4K Summit and in this way they will pay tribute to young creators who are beginning to work with Ultra High Definition.
