Sonia Martínez is exclusively linked to Atresmedia Studios

Atresmedia TV reinforces its strategy with national fiction with the signing of Montse García, one of the most recognized figures in the sector, as the new fiction director.

Sonia Martinez will expand its responsibility in Atresmedia Studios as editorial director of the company to which it will be exclusively linked from this Monday. Atresmedia Studios, part of the Atresmedia group and directed by Ignacio Corrales, was born in January 2018 and since then has experienced remarkable growth, consolidating itself as one of the benchmarks in national fiction production.

Currently, the company has developed, produced and signed agreements and projects for important national and international operators.

Complementing this movement, Atresmedia TV reinforces its strategy with the signing of Montse García, one of the most recognized figures in the sector who joins as Director of Fiction at Atresmedia TV, a position that Martínez has been holding from 2006 to the present.

Sonia Martínez and Montse García have already worked together as executive managers of some of the most successful series of recent years such as Without Identity, The Cathedral of the Sea o Slaughterhouse, among others.

Sonia Martínez's career has been closely related to the production and realization of fiction and entertainment formats, holding different positions of responsibility in the production company Videomedia (1993-2000). In 2001, she joined Telecinco as Deputy Director of Fiction, becoming Director of this area in 2005.

Since 2006 she has held the position of fiction director of Atresmedia, launching some of the most successful and praised Spanish productions of the last 15 years, such as Vis a vis, Fariña, The time between seams, Velvet, Presumed Guilty, The Boarding School, Grand hotel, The boat, Sea of ​​plastic, The Cathedral of the Sea, The Secret of Puente Viejo…and, in particular, The Money Heist, the most internationally successful Spanish series, the only winner of an Emmy.

In December 2017, with the birth of Atresmedia Studios, Sonia Martínez took the position of editorial director of the company. During this time, she has led different projects as executive producer such as Temperance (Amazon Original) o The pier (Movistar+), of which she is also the author of the original idea. Martínez has received countless awards and recognitions, highlighting the Iris Critics Award in 2018.

Montse Garcia

For her part, Montse García comes to Atresmedia TV after holding the position of executive director in recent years at the Diagonal TV production company belonging to the Endemol Shine Iberia group. Throughout his career he has specialized in television fiction, participating in the development and production of titles such as The Lady (TVE), Republic (TVE), Isabel (TVE), Charles King Emperor (TVE), Without Identity (Antenna 3), The Cathedral of the Sea (Antenna 3), Slaughterhouse (Antena 3) and recently The Knot (Atresmedia). He also participates in the production of the film The bookstore, directed by Isabel Coixet, Goya Best Film 2018. She is also responsible for the transfer and continuity of the series Loving in troubled times (TVE); renewing and adapting the format for Atresmedia as Love is forever.

García specialized in Television Production in Los Angeles at the SPTI (Sony Producciones Televisión International) studios, covering all the areas that make up fictional audiovisual production.

Later she was part of the SPTI group (Sony Producciones Televisión International) as production director and delegate for Spain, participating in the adaptation of television formats for Sony Spain such as: The Simulators (Four) , Marriage with children (Four), Table for five (Telecinco) and Fashionable (Forta). As head of production at Globomedia Television, she carried out some of the first prime time shows in Spain, such as: more than friends (Telecinco), Companions (Antenna 3) and Lawyers (Telecinco) with Boca-Boca Producciones.
