GoPro opens new functionalities in its action cameras thanks to the GoPro Labs platform
GoPro Labs will allow users to enjoy some of the experimental features that the action camera maker is testing.
GoPro has just launched an interesting initiative, GoPro Labs, which will allow users to enjoy some of the experimental functions that the action camera manufacturer is testing.
More than a beta experience, it is an inside look at the innovative features that its best engineers are putting to the test. In fact, these features may never make it to a GoPro, but they're interesting and developed enough to give you the idea.
for the camera Hero8 Black, GoPro Labs firmware optimizes blind effect correction integrated into the Hero8 Black camera to better suit stabilization ReelSteady Go. This way, you will enjoy the best possible post stabilization on your Hero8 Black.
But perhaps the most striking thing is the control of the camera through the use of QR codes. GoPro has developed a method to control Hero8 Black cameras using QR codes. This expands the capabilities of the Hero8 Black with the introduction of time- and energy-sensitive content creation use cases, such as multi-day or week-long sequences, and remote control that goes beyond the limits of Wi-Fi connectivity. The user just needs to point the camera at the QR code and the designated functions will be activated.
Features supported by QR codes include: wake-up timer for remote capture start; saving favorite modes as a visual preset or QR code; Motion detection start/stop: Video is only captured when something happens; speed detection start/stop: use GPS to determine your speed and automatically start capturing at a predetermined speed, camera scripts: for example, capture a sequence of a construction site but only during daylight hours (and many other detailed camera controls); or capture larger chapters to reduce the number of files when capturing long videos: for example, 4 GB chapters will be expanded to 12 GB.
