Former Google and Discovery Executive John Honeycutt Joins Blackbird

Honeycutt is a long-time professional in the information technology and media sector, an expert in cloud services, supply chain logistics and cybersecurity.

Blackbird, specialized in cloud video editing platforms, has added to its board of directors as a non-executive director John Honeycutt.

Honeycutt is a long-time professional in the information technology and media sector, an expert in cloud services, supply chain logistics and cybersecurity. He has significant international experience in business strategy and operations, mergers and acquisitions, transformation and large-scale project delivery across all aspects of the media industry. Before joining Blackbird he held senior positions at Google, Discovery Communications, Fox Cable Networks and Liberty Media.

He was senior vice president of broadcast operations at Fox from 1995 to 2003, before serving as chief media technology officer, chief operating officer and chief technology officer at Discovery from 2003 to 2019. Honeycutt subsequently joined Google as vice president of Telecommunications, Media and Entertainment, where he developed initial product development and go-to-market strategies for Google Cloud in those sectors globally.

I recently founded The Sandy Valley Group, an independent advisory firm focused on the technology, transformation and growth strategies that media and entertainment companies must implement to thrive in the next decade. John is also an adjunct professor and visiting lecturer at American University in Washington, DC and was a founding member of American's Kogod Business School's Cybersecurity Governance Council.
