An evolution of the BISS protocol, BISS-CA is an open, secure and interoperable conditional access encryption standard that includes a dynamic rolling key system.

Atem gives a new impetus to the new BISS-CA standard adopting it in your solutions Kyrion and Titan Edge. An evolution of the BISS protocol, BISS-CA is an open, secure and interoperable conditional access encryption standard that includes a dynamic rolling key system.

Developed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) In collaboration with Ateme and other providers, BISS-CA enables real-time rights management for content streams on any network. It can be used on any production equipment, from encoders and decoders to multiplexers and transcoders to safely transmit high-value content.

Ateme has developed a strong relationship with the EBU, having collaborated on the BISS-CA concept since 2017, when Ateme assisted the EBU in the introduction and launch of the BISS-CA protocol. Since then, ATEME has supported Eurovision Services, a subsidiary of the EBU, in daily tests and trials focused on the development of the standard and its promotion. This includes public key concatenation, locking systems, and input watermarking to increase the level of content protection in this comprehensive solution from content creation to final distribution.

Having played an active role in the development of the standard from the beginning, Ateme solutions are all upgradeable BISS-CA software used for BISS-CA interoperability testing and certification. Ateme IRDs are integrated into the Eurovision Services management system and are part of their recent firmware update procedure.

Julien Mandel, director of Ateme's contribution segment, states that at the company "we are proud to have worked with the EBU in the creation and development of BISS-CA. It is a great example of how the combined efforts of dedicated professionals can result in driving innovation in the broadcasting industry and creating an industry-leading and market-recognized solution."
