Every year RTVE participates in more than fifty feature films, documentaries, TV movies and animated films, both by established directors and by young talents and auteur films.

Sentimental

Spanish Radio Television (RTVE), official sponsor of San Sebastian Festival, will present the feature films at the 68th edition Sentimental, of Cesc Gay, y explode explode, of Nacho Alvarez, as well as the series Inés of my soul, based on the novel of the same name by Isabel Allende.

El primero de los tres títulos participados por TVE se proyectará como estreno mundial en la Gala RTVE que acogerá el Teatro Victoria Eugenia. Cesc Gay (Barcelona, 1967) regresa al Festival tras participar con largometrajes como Hotel Room (New Directors, 1998), in the city (Sección Oficial, 2003) o Truman (Sección Oficial, Concha de Plata al mejor actor ex aequo para Ricardo Darín y Javier Cámara 2015). La comedia Sentimental, protagonizada por Javier Cámara, Belén Cuesta, Griselda Siciliani y Alberto San Juan, es la adaptación de la obra teatral de Gay, Los vecinos de arriba, en la que el encuentro de dos parejas de vecinos desemboca en un tsunami emocional.

explode explodeFor his part, Uruguayan Nacho Álvarez (Montevideo, 1986) makes his feature film debut with explode explode, a film that includes in its soundtrack the greatest hits of the Italian Raffaella Carrà and that will also be screened as a world premiere. Actress Ingrid García-Jonsson plays a young dancer and singer who tries to make her dreams come true in the gray Spain of the early 70s. Verónica Echegui, Fernando Guallar, Fernando Tejero, Pedro Casablanc, Carlos Hipólito and Natalia Millán complete the cast.

Finally, RTVE will present in San Sebastián the first chapters of the series Inés of my soul. Directed by Cuban Alejandro Bazzano (Havana, 1963) and the Chilean Nicolas Acuna (Santiago, 1972), it is a historical drama set in the 16th century and based on the novel of the same name by Isabel Allende. Elena Rivera plays Inés Suárez, a young woman from Extremadura who during the colonial era crosses the Atlantic in search of her husband (Benjamín Vicuña) and who lives a passionate romance with the Spanish conquistador Pedro de Valdivia (Eduardo Noriega).

RTVE presence in San Sebastián

As for a long time, the Festival has a important presence of cinema participated by RTVE. In the Official Section they highlight Akelarre, of Pablo Aguero, who will compete for the Golden Shell, and Rifkin’s Festival, Woody Allen's new romantic comedy that will be screened at the opening out of competition. Besides, New Directors, which includes first and second films, will show Ane, the feature debut of David Pérez Sañudo.
