Broadcast Solutions plans and integrates the new HD Broadcast mobile unit

Designed to work with up to thirty cameras, this mobile unit is unique in many aspects such as space design and workflow.

The German producer HD Broadcast has just released its new UHD 2 mobile unit planned and integrated by Broadcast Solutions.

Designed to work with up to one thirty cameras This mobile unit is unique in many ways. The vehicle construction, technical planning, workflow concept, design and overall interior layout are tailored to the customer's wishes down to the smallest detail.

The new UHD 2 is currently one of the largest available in Germany. It can work with a maximum of thirty cameras (UHD / HDR) and with an interior space of about 60 m², it offers up to 28 jobs in a spacious and relaxed work environment.

The vehicle uses a multi-format production system based on 4K / 12G-SDI UHD Single Link / 3G-SDI Quad Link / HD / HDR formats. The new HD Broadcast flagship is designed as a walk-through with three extensions covering the entire length, thus providing two full control rooms, many engineering and slomo workstations and VIP workplaces. A third control room is available alongside a support van.

The dimensions are as impressive as the technical effort is enormous. The vehicle houses 10 servers EVS VIA, located under the desk in control room 1, fully air-conditioned and soundproofed. The large dimensions and the large number of equipment are also reflected in the technical figures.

Broadcast Solutions technicians installed around 70 km of cable, over 400 RU of rack space and 23 cable trays. To increase the safety of the customer's production, the UHD 2 is equipped with a UPS unit, which ensures 15 minutes of autonomous operation of the entire mobile unit in the event of a power failure.

Comfort and efficiency

Another unique feature is the design of this mobile unit. The overall goal of the interior design and planning was to make working in the UHD 2 as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Meeting this requirement was the main consideration when planning the interior concept, workflows, interior and exterior design, materials used and lighting concept. Simultaneously with the launch of the new UHD 2, HD Broadcast chose a new corporate design, which is repeatedly taken up in various elements of the unit.

The basic design ideas were developed by Constantin Novotny, and were refined and integrated into the vehicle together with the Broadcast Solutions design team. Many detailed solutions ensure a pleasant working environment and shorter preparation times. Even when fully occupied, there is enough space to move around inside the vehicle without crowding.

Motorized windows inside and outside to change the brightness or automatic doors provide additional comfort. Air conditioning settings, and lighting type and status, can be adjusted in each room to meet the individual team member's preferences.
