The hyper-realistic virtual scenarios created by MR Factory and RTVE comprise a total of 6 different locations, ranging from a spaceship to an alpine exterior, a castle or the Nautilus submarine.

Here the Earth

Here the Earth, the daily magazine focused on meteorology and lifestyle from La 1 de Spanish Television, has begun this Thursday, November 5, the broadcast of a series of content produced with hyper realistic virtual reality.

Brainstorm, the company specialized in real-time 3D graphics solutions, virtual sets and augmented reality, has reached an agreement with RTVE and in collaboration with MR Factory to generate these contents that are produced in the Set E3 of Prado del Rey and at the MR Factory facilities, whose experience in real-time photorealistic content for series, films and programs is recognized worldwide.

The hyper-realistic virtual scenarios created by MR Factory and RTVE comprise a total of 6 different locations, ranging from a spaceship to an alpine exterior, a castle or the Nautilus submarine. All virtual scenarios integrate a wide variety of rooms and areas, with different possibilities for camera shots, which allows the director to present the programs with total creative freedom and innovative framing, being able to take the crane to the entire stage.

InfinitySet, key piece

InfinitySet de Brainstorm is the fundamental piece for the real-time generation of these scenarios, acting not only as the render of the virtual set of Unreal Engine of Epic Games but also as the management hub that brings together all the technologies involved. The entire production chain is 4K HDR, from capture, embedding and rendering.

Recording of the presenter takes place on a chroma stage and is combined with a background created with Unreal Engine within the InfinitySet, which receives the data from tracking de MoSys and 4K HDR video signal from cameras Ursa Mini Pro of Blackmagic Design with zoom optics Canon, mounted on crane and tripod. The set combines a virtual set with real TVE props, using a chroma key Ultimatte from BlackMagic for embedding. The project has also had the collaboration of Moncada and Lorenzo and Canon.

Jaume Asensio, head of content innovation management at RTVE, highlights that "with this innovation project we have created 6 tremendously creative hyperrealistic scenarios, both indoors and outdoors, providing the Here on Earth team with countless possibilities for their intros. This project opens up a wide range of possibilities for live programs, documentaries and fiction that are attractive to the audience."

For its part, Monica Victor, director of production services at Brainstorm and commercial manager for Spain, states that "RTVE is a client with whom we have a fruitful relationship of many years, which has led both companies to generate unique content. With this new Brainstorm space, MR Factory and TVE are at the forefront of cutting-edge content for television."

Virtual production has been shown to be a fundamental element of current broadcasting, and even more so in these times when maintaining social distance is necessary, as well as complying with mobility restrictions. By using hyper-realistic virtual production, TVE is optimizing production costs and times while maintaining the highest quality standard.
