Panasonic designs a new 35mm F1.8 lens for Lumix S Series Full-Frame cameras
Thinking about video recording with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, Panasonic adds to its portfolio the new extra-luminous fixed focal length lens, Lumix S 35mm F1.8 (S-S35).
This is the fourth addition to the series of objectives of large aperture F1.8 based on the L-Mount system standard, which already has the S-S85, S-S50 and S-S24 models. These four fixed focal length lenses have a similar size and button arrangement, offering clear advantages in use.
The objectives can be exchange quickly as they share a similar center of gravity when the camera is on a gimbal type mount. In addition, the lenses can also use the same filters since they have the same diameter. The new S-S35 lens from LUMIX will be available at the end of November for €679 RRP.
The new Lumix S 35mm F1.8 is composed of eleven lenses distributed in nine groups, including three aspherical lenses and three ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) lenses. The use of three aspherical lenses offers high visual performance and magnificent bokeh, advantages that are common to all Lumix F1.8 lenses.
Additionally, ED and UED lenses effectively reduce chromatic aberration. This new model is perfect for landscapes or snapshots, taking advantage of the natural viewing angle, but also for portraits or close-ups, thanks to the minimum focusing distance of 0.24 m.
This new model runs smoothly and quietly when working with the high speed AF system y high contrast precision, with the ultra-fast sensor of up to 240 fps.
For non-linear adjustment, the focus shifts according to the rotation speed of the focus ring, while for linear adjustment, it shifts according to the designated setting according to the rotation of the focus ring.
Sensitivity (the extent to which focus changes per rotation of the ring) can be selected from 90 to 360 degrees in 30-degree intervals to achieve the desired focus.
The lens stands out for its performance in video recording with a mechanism that suppresses focus breathing, which is one of the most common problems with interchangeable lenses. Thanks to a microstep aperture control that offers smooth exposure change, the new S-S35 can record professional-quality video.
With a compact and lightweight format of about 295g, the new S-S35 stands out for its impressive mobility. Furthermore, his dust and splash resistant design, permite el uso en condiciones adversas, incluso a -10 grados centígrados.
