Filming of 'The Gypsy Bride', Atresplayer Premium series, begins

ViacomCBS International Studios, with the participation of Atresmedia Television and the collaboration of Diagonal TV (Banijay Iberia), produce The gypsy bride series of Atresplayer Premium whose filming has just taken its first steps.

The gypsy bride adapts the novel of the same name Carmen Mola, Planeta Award 2021 for The Beast, one of the most important literary revelations of recent years. At the controls of this fiction eight episodes of 50 minutes, whose filming will extend over the next four months in locations in Madrid, Alcalá and Segovia, is the director Paco Cabezas (Fear the Walking Dead, Penny Dreadful, The Umbrella Academy, Bye). They will accompany you on this adventure Laura Garcia, production director; Andrew Adam, director of photography; and Guillero Spoltore, art director.

Paco Cabezas, Laura Abril, Sebastián Vibes, María Cervera, Cristina Alcelay, Jaume Banacolocha, Jordi Frades, Albert Sagalés and Montse García will be the executive producers of the series. Regarding the script, it is coordinated by José Rodríguez and Antonio Mercero, in charge of writing the series together with Jorge Díaz and Susana Martín Gijón.

Cast and synopsis

The actress Nerea Barros will be the protagonist of the new series that can be seen exclusively in Spain through the platform Atresplayer Premium. She will play Elena Blanco, a veteran homicide inspector of the BAC (Case Analysis Brigade). This is how Atresmedia defines the role that Blanco will play in the story: "Inspector Blanco, defined as an intelligent woman, obsessed with solving her own horror and who, in the pain of the Macaya family, parents of two young women murdered 6 years apart, sees herself sadly reflected. She and her team will be in charge of searching for the person responsible for a macabre ritual."
