Atresplayer Premium and Buendía Estudios start filming 'The Nights of Tefía'
Tefía's nights, the new original fiction from Atresplayer Premium created by playwright and screenwriter Miguel de Arco, begins filming in Tenerife and Madrid.
It is a production of Buendía Estudios Canarias with the participation of Atresmedia Television. Fiction has Montse Garcia y Sonia Martinez in executive production and Lucia Alonso-Allende as co-executive producer. Miguel del Arco y Antonio Rojano sign the script and Miguel del Arco himself along with Romulo Aguillaume They are in charge of management.
Tefía's nights It is based on a desert area of Fuerteventura where between 1954 and 1966 there was a Francoist concentration camp known by the euphemistic name of Colonia Agrícola Penitenciaria de Tefía, one of many places where the regime sent those convicted by the vagrants and thugs law that, starting in '54, was implemented to also include homosexuals.
In 2004, Airam Betancor, one of those homosexual prisoners, was forced to remember the seventeen months of forced labor he suffered in the colony when he was barely twenty years old. The investigations of a documentary filmmaker who tries to give voice to the history of silence of the penal colony force Airam to do a painful memory exercise that will cause many problems in his life.
The dormant memory of the terrible life in the colony is mixed with the stories that one of his barracks companions improvised at night to alleviate his miseries. Charli, the fantastic storyteller, invented El Tindaya for all of them, a dazzling music hall where each one has their alter ego. A space of freedom in which, as its welcome theme says, the limit of what is possible bursts when you imagine.
