Cinesa - Kinepolis - subscription model - cinemas

The flat rate model for movie theaters, widespread in other European and American markets, arrives in Spain with a proposal confirmed by Cinesa and a possible development by Kinépolis.

Cinesa has named its subscription service “unlimited card.” Users who are interested in this proposal will be able to access the movie theaters unlimited (beyond redeeming several tickets for the same session) for 15.90 euros per month. The service includes all premiere movies, invitations for special passes y discounts in some of the restaurant services. The cinema chain has also offered an annual subscription that offers a significant discount compared to the monthly payment.

On the other hand, Kinépolis has sent an email to its customers with a survey in which it lays out the bases of what its subscription model would be. This proposal, different from Cinesa, would offer a 7.5 euro rate which would include a free entry every month and benefits such as access to merchandising, preestrenos, discounts on buy for food and tickets: 7.5 euros compared to 9.90 euros for the normal rate and 7.90 for the reduced rate. The rate, however, would not include the special supplement for special projections such as 3D and formats.

For the moment, other majority chains (Odeon Yelmo) and independent (Renoir, Golem) have not commented on this trend, although most of them have membership programs or ticket vouchers that seek to retain the viewer.
