Bridge Technologies adds Dolby E monitoring to the VB440

The VB440 solution Bridge Technologies now incorporates monitoring functions Dolby E, which allow multichannel audio to be compressed for more efficient transport.

This addition represents Bridge's commitment to developing a probe that enables creative monitoring and visualization of all standards (audio and video) that a production facility may adopt.

The addition of a greater number of audio standards adds to the probe's already extensive audio capabilities, giving engineers deep insight into audio performance by incorporating a designed set of LUFS, Gonio and room meters, and allows them to carry out their work from anywhere in the world in a remote or distributed manner, in particular thanks to the existing ability to preview multi-channel audio in stereo downmix with headphones through any HTML-5 browser.

Specifically, the addition of Dolby E means that audio engineers also have the ability to supervise productions that use this solution.

Dolby E is an audio compression and decoding technology that facilitates compression of multi-channel audio in a AES3 digital audio stream, which can then be stored as a stereo pair to facilitate lower bit rate transfer between production facilities and distribution centers. This is critical for broadcasters working with limited bandwidth. With Dolby E, operators can offer their audiences superior viewing experiences in more limited operating environments.
