Bridge Technologies prepares for NAB 2022 by announcing a crucial upgrade for its VB440
The VB440 high-density IP media traffic monitoring probe, one of the main developments of Bridge Technologies, incorporates a new signal generation functionality.
Bridge Technologies has shared the news a few weeks before presenting in NAB (stand W5604) this and many other products in their catalog. By introducing not only the signal monitoring, but also the generation of signals, the VB440 Now allows you to generate placeholder reference signals when setting up a study, making it possible to test the network without having to completely assemble all network components. These placeholders They can also be used to measure and test the network performance of elements that are not going to be integrated into the study setup until later in the workflow.
The new functionality of signal generation It also makes users capable manually set placeholder reference signals through the graphical user interface itself or through NMOS. This can be achieved for any resolution or frame rate, for both SDR and HDR signals. They can be used to “represent” cameras, switches, etc., with a color bar and a video or audio ID for each of them, even before the physical asset itself is configured.
This improvement allows users to test the reliability and security of the network connection with the central studio before actual installation of auxiliary components, which has the advantage of facilitating much more efficient configuration times and early error detection. These placeholders can also be used to accommodate connections that will be integrated into the workflow later (for example, uplinks to remote interview sources).
VB440: evolving tool
With the introduction of these signal generation functions, Bridge Technologies continues to pursue the VB440's growing raison d'être: the creation of a complete production tool that facilitates the workflows of a range of production participants by providing extensive functionality that only requires an HTML-5 browser to access, potentially replacing entire racks of task-specific equipment and monitors in environments where both space and budget may be at a premium.
The incorporation of signal generation to help a faster and more efficient setup of the studio outside the facilities consolidates the VB440, according to Bridge Technologies itself, as an “indispensable tool in the field of production through mobile units, remote and distributed.”
