UHD Spain and UPM promote the second edition of the UHD signal production and emission course
Active specialist professionals members of UHD Spain will once again teach the UHD Signal Production and Emission Course, an initiative that has the collaboration of the UPM.
After the good reception of the first edition, UHD Spain and the UPM They present a new course (again in online format) with limited places. The initiative was born with the objective of continuing to train professionals in the Spanish industry in a context of transition to Ultra High Definition by the industry. In the words of its director, Jose Manuel Menendez, professor at the UPM: “The objective is to train professionals from media groups in working with the new characteristics of the UHD signal, from capture to broadcast, including aspects of post-processing, monitoring, archiving and commercial export.”
Participants will acquire the necessary knowledge to face the fundamental challenges that entails the implementation of UHD, such as higher bit depth forced by recommendation ITU-R BT.2020, the use of high dynamic range coexisting with standard dynamic range, the greatest color rendering capability, the increased refreshment frequency in the image box or the possibilities of the next generation audio.
Although no academic qualification is required to access the course, it is recommended that the student have previous studies, either a university degree or a higher cycle in Vocational Training related to technical topics that include the study of the audio and video signal in the signal broadcast on television, audiovisual communication or the production and realization of this type of content.
Teaching staff of the II UHD signal production and emission course
The teaching staff of the UHD Spain and UPM course has increased compared to the previous edition and is made up of 20 professionals active members of the main companies in the sector and media groups in Spain that, under the umbrella of UHD Spain, work for the definitive implementation of the UHD signal in our country.
They will be part of the teaching team Carlos Castan Cañete, Canon Manager; Xavier Bonet and Jordi Mata, from the CCMA; Xavier Redón, Product Manager de Cellnex; Vicente Pla, COITT; Sonia Valladares, solutions engineer at Dolby; Ricardo Vinas, Senior Sound Consultant at Dolby Laboratories; Elena Burdiel, Research Associate at Fraunhofer IIS together with Yannik Grewe, Senior Manager – Media Technologies & Business Development y Daniela Rieger, sound engineer at Fraunhofer IIS; Emily Planas, Director of Technology and Operations at Mediapro; Roberto Salvador, from RTVE and Miguel Angel Corral, director engineer of the Sant Cugat IP project; Juan José Anaya, Technical Director at SAPEC; Julian Fernandez-Campon, Chief Technology Officer of Tedial; Yeray Alfageme, Director of Business Development at Optiva Media, and José Luis Blanco and David Jiménez, professors at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Everything will be coordinated and directed by the UPM Professor for Jose Manuel Menendez through its involvement in the UHD Spain association. Likewise, this edition will have the participation of Francisco José Espinosa (Tilano) as an independent expert.
