The Voice Lituania

The largest stadium in Lithuania, the Žalgirio Arena, located in Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania, hosted the final of the tenth season of 'The Voice' with a console Digico Quantum 338.

The live show featured 10 exceptionally talented contestants battling it out for the coveted title, subsequently whittled down to the top four contestants for the superfinal. Given that The Voice of Lithuania is one of the most important and demanding projects on the country's events calendar, with an audience of over one million viewers, it was crucial to use top-notch equipment to guarantee the perfect execution of the event.

Jurgis Stasikėlis, freelance sound engineer Garsisc Sound Team, took care of the audio and opted for a Digico Quantum 338 console, supplied by Sonus Exsertus, Digico distributor for the Baltics and Georgia. He relied on the power and connectivity of the console to deliver an exceptional audio experience.

As an ardent fan of Digico products, Stasikėlis has been using Digico consoles for the past seven years, starting with the S series and gradually moving up to the brand's high-end Quantum consoles.

“After two years using the Digico Quantum 338, we can confidently say that our experience has been overwhelmingly positive,” says Stasikėlis. “The Quantum 338 has demonstrated exceptional reliability and consistently delivers high-quality production, exceeding our expectations.”

Stasikėlis explains that, especially for reality television The Voice Lithuania, there was frequent changes to the song list. "During rehearsals, we didn't know the final track list, and when we received it, we had to make adjustments quickly. Thanks to Digico's powerful snapshot engine, this was no longer a problem," he notes. "The Macro function is especially useful and easy for making important adjustments. These functions ensured that there were no delays or difficulties in keeping up with the dynamically evolving setlist during the show."

Combining Stasikėlis' vision with the needs of The Voice Lithuania It was a significant challenge and required careful planning to ensure its success. However, as he himself explains, “it could be easily achieved with the right equipment”, elaborating on the main challenge of the project, which was time management due to the large number of participants per day, including live bands.

“This required a console with an organized layout, quick access tools and efficient audio paths,” he adds.

The routing complexity and the signal conversion audio required great processing capacity and great versatility in I/O. With a wide range of digital audio protocols, various signal sources and destinations, extensive adjustments and conversions were necessary. These demanding requirements required powerful hardware and software that could handle a multitude of audio processing tasks efficiently and reliably.

“That's why we chose the Quantum 338 as the backbone of the project,” he says. “Although it is a powerful machine on its own, when combined with the Waves plugins, the DMI-DANTE card and complemented by the immersive in-ear audio of the KLANG, it transforms into an incredible piece of high-tech engineering that fulfilled our vision for the project.”

Praising the DMI card Klang, Stasikėlis says it became a powerful tool for the show, providing 16 mixes and 64 channels. However, as the show continues to evolve each year, he wants to improve the system by investing in a Sound:conductor to further improve the monitor mix. “With this addition, we can expand our capabilities and offer an even better experience on stage to both new artists and our beloved band,” he adds.
