RIST Forum increases membership and supported solutions
The Reliable Internet Stream Transport forum (RIST) announced at IBC 2023 that it already has more than 260 members working with a protocol that is already compatible with a large number of products, many of which could be seen these days in Amsterdam.
Among these new solutions compatible with RIST, the Cobalt Digital with your new solution Pacific Ull-Dec, an openGear card capable of decoding H.262 (MPEG-2), H.264 (AVC), H.265(HEVC) and 4K. Additionally, it supports a wide set of audio codecs and network protocols, including RIST. When combined with Cobalt 9992-ENC, this solution can achieve sub-frame end-to-end latency.
On the part of SipRadius, specialized in offering a versatile comprehensive set of coding, transport, distribution and visualization platforms for the media and telecommunications sector, has carried out demonstrations with the RIST protocol at IBC, presenting the solutions CoralCoder y M.aX, supporting transmission with JPEG-XS and AV1 codecs using the RIST protocol.
In addition to Cobalt and SipRadius, other main RIST members such as Amazon Web Services, Open Broadcast Systems, Zixi and Teradek have been present at IBC. Associate members include EasyTools, Evertz, Intinor and Net Insight. Affiliate members exhibiting in Amsterdam include AJA Video Systems, Arkona Tech, Arqiva, Ateme, BCNEXXT, Caton, Collabora, CoralBaytv, CyanView, DVEO, Evensys and GlobalM, among others.
Finally, highlight that RIST provides a solution open, interoperable and technically robust for low-latency live video over unmanaged networks. With RIST, interoperability is achieved through clear specifications, while vendors remain free to innovate their own implementations.
