Silvia Lobo and Félix Abel de la Cruz found Stendhal Films, new distribution label

Stendhal Films takes its first steps led by Silvia Lobo and Félix Abel de la Cruz as an agency and national distribution label specialized in independent cinema.

Stendhal Films, a film distribution company, was founded in January 2024 with a clear objective: premiere independent European, American and Latin American films in Spain that offer new narratives, new views and perspectives; that discover new directorial talents and, in turn, confront the realities of contemporary times. In parallel with film distribution in Spain, Stendhal Films will act as agency dedicated to audience design; to the creation of launch and booking strategies; to the management of public aid for the promotion of national and international cinema; to the development of communication strategies and press management services; to curatorial and film programming services, and to cultural management.

The project that is based on the admiration for the environment and the experience of its founders, Silvia Lobo and Félix Abel de la Cruz, two professionals in the sector with more than two decades of experience in the national industry. Lobo, originally from Zamora, is an expert consultant in positioning, sales, audience design and film distributor. She has worked for companies such as Sony Pictures, Morena Films, Elamedia Estudios, Paco Poch Cinema, Surtsey Films or Twelve Oaks Pictures, and is a mentor for Torino Film Lab, Semilleru FICX, ECAM, Pompeu Fabra University. Likewise, she has worked as a programmer at MAFIZ-WIP at the Malaga Film Festival and as head of Institutional Relations at the Rizoma Festival, and is a founding partner and has been president of Próxima, an association of independent film distributors and at V.O. For his part, the man from Logroño Felix Abel de la Cruz He is the founder of the company FC35. At the same time, he is a Programmer at the La Rioja Film Library and the person in charge of film programming for the Actual Festival: Stage of Contemporary Cultures held in the capital of Rioja. They are joined, as a collaborator, by the critic, consultant and curator from Cáceres Emilio Artists, with a long career in the publishing world and in film programming at national and international festivals, as well as at the Film Commission of Extremadura.

Stendhal Films will open its cinematographic catalog with the acquisition of the film Paradise is Burning (Paradise burning, 2023), co-production between Sweden, Italy, Denmark and Finland that marked the director's directorial debut Mika Gustafson. The film had its world premiere in the last edition of the Venice Festival.
