nxtedition Script function

On the occasion of the celebration in Amsterdam of IBC 2025, Nxtedition will unveil new features to its popular live production platform with workflow improvements, including a major update to the Script feature, designed to make storytelling faster, easier and more flexible.

The Script function, which is at the heart of the creative process, has been completely rewritten to offer greater speed, flexibility and performance. The text editor now handles complex scripts used in many Asian and Middle Eastern languages, along with better handling of rich text and emojis, reflecting the changing demands of multilingual and cross-platform newsrooms.

To ensure quality and creativity, the platform is also fully compatible con Ultra HD y HDR, both in proxies and playback, using HEVC encoding to optimize compression efficiency and visual quality.

As part of the latest updates, the complex HTML graphic templates created in Rive can be imported directly into nxtedition and populated within the platform. This streamlines the creation and deployment of professional images. The Melodie music library platform has also been integrated, allowing creators to find, download and link the right music to underline the story.

nxt|edit, the integrated editing platform, supports non-standard aspect ratios, such as 1:1 and 9:16. This important update makes it easier to work with user-generated content and social formats. Additional features include voice-over tools, transcript-based text editing, a revamped user interface based on user feedback, and a new event editor to create and manage events directly within the platform.

nxt|drive now offers a revolutionary new way to send high-resolution media files directly to Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve, securely over the public Internet. This allows remote editors to instantly access high-resolution files on demand from an nxtedition system, without the need for third-party tools or additional licensing costs.

The Nxtedition platform has always supported feedback as stories are refined, approved and prepared for delivery. The latest version introduces tagged and linked comments, with the option to flag colleagues for immediate notification, streamlining approval and ensuring quick story publication. Content, including asset sections, can now be marked as restricted to prevent its dissemination and protect the legal, ethical and commercial position of the broadcaster.

Visitors to IBC 2025 will also be able to see how Nxtedition's integrated software environment is compatible with AI agents and AI commands to improve newsroom operations. These agents operate in the background to automate key editorial tasks, such as suggesting content titles, generating descriptions for social networks, adapting scripts for different audiences and even verifying the veracity of material after ingestion. The AI tools They run entirely within the nxtedition platform using open source models such as Meta's OpenAI Whisper and Llama 3, with no cloud or third-party processing costs.

“Media companies around the world turn to nxtedition to tell their stories without restrictions,” he says. Adam Leah, creative director of Nxtedition. “They value our solution because it offers them a simple, easy-to-learn, single-window production and scripting platform that allows them to focus on what they do best.”

“Of course, we continue to listen to our users and watch what is happening in the media industry,” adds Leah. “That drives our continued investment in R&D, which includes integrations with key partners and reflects the real and pragmatic needs of today's news and production.”
