Bournemouth University launches specific training on eSports broadcast production using Blackmagic
A wide variety of solutions Blackmagic Design allows students of the degree in Digital Technologies for eSports of the Bornemouth University train in the recording, control and broadcast of this type of audiovisual content.
Each student's workstation includes a mixer ATEM Mini Pro ISO to switch between multiple live sources and record signals in isolation; a recorder HyperDeck Studio HD Plus to reproduce the games and graphics; one unit Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 to capture images of the players; a direct input for game sequences or graphic animations received from the computer, and a fourth input assigned by a switching matrix Blackmagic Videohub 20×20 12G. In order to promote operational fluidity, the facilities also integrate the program Bitfocus Companion with devices Stream Deck for scripted automation, allowing students to create macros, switch between cameras, activate graphics, and control playback.
This particular study is based on SDI connections to ensure high-quality transmission between stations, bringing together more than 75 cables under the floor and customized panels to manage signals flexibly. As explained Andrew Kitchenham, deputy director of the creative technology department at the university center, "one of the objectives from day one was to ensure that the teaching team could transmit any outgoing signal to all the student cabins. In this sense, the products of the Videohub line were fundamental to achieve this, transforming what seems like a common classroom into a completely interconnected production space."
Already in the post-production phase, both the recordings and the project files generated by the mixer ATEM Mini Pro ISO They open directly into DaVinci Resolve Studio"The integration with DaVinci Resolve was a key factor in the decision. Students can review the entire program, re-edit it with the sync shots and create something professional-grade. It's just the kind of skill the industry is looking for," adds Kitchenham.
