Hibino launches into virtual production with 12G solutions from Blackmagic Design
The Japanese Hibino Corporation has implemented a work dynamic based on products of Blackmagic Design with 12G technology in its new virtual studio Hibino VFX Studio.
Hibino offers services for live productions, such as planning, equipment rental or management of audiovisual systems for concerts and live events, in addition to importing and selling industry products. His latest proposal, Hibino VFX Studio, seeks to establish itself as one of the most advanced virtual production studios in Japan.
The infrastructure is dominated by a significant number of LED screens ROE Visual high resolution, which are installed on the top, front and sides of the stages. The cameras URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2, for their part, are responsible for capturing virtual images. A camera tracking system installed in said model sends position information, as well as information corresponding to the focal length and focus from the lens, to a server that detects the location of the camera in virtual space. The studio then employs Unreal Engine for real-time rendering of the 3D computer graphics background.
12G Solutions
The Hibino studio, based on 12G and fiber optic technology, has been built around Blackmagic Design. The camera signal URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2 is sent to an array Smart Videohub 40×40 through a mixer ATEM Television Studio 4K. The signals are then transmitted to various monitors, such as models Video Assist 12G HDR y SmartView 4K, while the images are graded in real time using a device ATEM Camera Control Panel. Other Blackmagic products are also used, for example Studio Fiber Converter, Camera Fiber Converter, conversores Teranex Mini SDI to HDMI 12G or his own DaVinci Resolve Studio in the software field.
Shigenori Kikuch, studio producer at Hibino, explains why he opted for the Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2: "In order for it to be compatible with our virtual system, we needed a camera that offered recording options at 24p, 30p and 60p, so we chose the URSA Mini Pro 4.6K G2. In addition, it allows the use of various lens mounts, so we decided to use it as complementary equipment so that customers can use their own lenses, such as the camera tracking system. RedSpy It is compatible with a wide variety of cameras and lenses, customers can use their own equipment.”
