RTVE - Playz - Stupid Cupid

The application of Playz (the youth channel of RTVE) and the Corporation's social media profiles will serve as a platform for the new series 'Estúpido Cupido', a romantic comedy shot vertically and starring popular faces in TikTok which is part of the Asian phenomenon of microdramas.

Conceived as entertainment intended for vertical consumption, the microdramas They consist of chapters between one and three minutes that are published daily, like traditional soap operas. Stupid Cupid, a romantic comedy inspired by this Asian format, is set at the Partenon boarding school, where some of the most relevant content creators on the national scene will meet, such as Sergio Bueno, Ricard García, Dafne and Allen Vicente, YosoyAnix, Pablo Triviño, Irene Silva, Lu Prieto and Izan Ibáñez, among others.

It is a production of RTVE in collaboration with Kokoro Content, whose people are behind some of the biggest successes within Spanish youth platforms, such as Rabia (Flooxer) o Area 34 (Playz), both selected by the MIPTV in Cannes in 2023 for their originality and innovation. RTVE has confirmed that, with the premiere of this format in 2026, Playz will become a vertical video application that fully adapts to the consumption patterns of Generation Z.

Playz has previously developed various fictions vertically, with a special focus on horror and thrillers. The first of them was An unforgettable New Year's Eve, produced in collaboration with Boomerang, and released in 2019. This transmedia series set on New Year's Eve and featuring the participation of faces such as Ana Mena, Álvaro Mel and Carla Campra, it won a Silver Lovie and a special mention in the Webby Awards for its use of vertical stories.

Just a few weeks ago, Atresmedia confirmed the start of filming of A girlfriend for Christmas, another microdrama 60 chapters shot vertically and that will be seen on Flooxer.
