Sennheiser and Agorà prepare a record deployment of Spectera for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026
The producer Agora and the team Sennheiser, both official audio providers of the ORF ahead of the celebration of Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, have met to finalize what will be the largest implementation of the Spectera wireless system to date.
After providing support to local teams in matters of public address, radio frequency, show mixing and network technology in the Eurovision Song Contest editions of Lisboa, Tel Aviv and Turin, Agora is preparing to take the audio of the imminent Vienna edition to the next level, which will take place from May 12 to 16 at the Wiener Stadthalle in the Austrian capital. In this event, Sennheiser will supply your largest installation of Spectera to date, including handheld transmitter prototypes, as well as a firmware variant that will add key functionalities for format as a level recorder.
Volker Schmitt, director of applications engineering, is confident that contest participants can benefit “from the extraordinary clarity of IEMs through Spectera.” "Artists using a headset microphone will be able to perform with a single bodypack transmitter. Like the Agorà team, our wireless experts are looking forward to being part of the incredible international teamwork of the Eurovision Song Contest," he explains.
After overcoming various tests at the Sennheiser headquarters, the Spectera devices were sent to the facilities of Agora to undergo further tests and configure them in racks. After a two day training period, the Agorà and Sennheiser teams are now prepared to support the anfitriona ORF in the iconic musical competition.
Valerio Motta, Agorà project director for ESC 2026, is enthusiastic about the great advances in technology and workflows that this transmission brings year after year. "But the best part of the job is collaborating with teams from so many countries. The Eurovision Song Contest is like a very fast and complex festival: we love it!" he says.
Andreas Sennheiser, for its part, highlights the technological opportunities that the contest offers: "The Eurovision Song Contest is a great opportunity for companies to test their most advanced technology in the largest live music broadcast in the world. We are very happy to be able to collaborate with the ORF and very happy to have welcomed Agorà to the Sennheiser offices."
