RTVE deploys extensive technical coverage at the Almagro Festival
RTVE brings a new production of RNE Sound Fiction to the Corral de Comedias de Almagro, installs a mobile studio in the Plaza Mayor and offers special broadcasts through RNE, TVE and RTVE Play.
The 49th Almagro International Classical Theater Festival, which is held until July 26, once again has a notable presence from RTVE, which has deployed a wide production and coverage device to bring the event closer through radio, television and digital platforms. Among the main initiatives, the premiere of the new Sound Fiction on Radio Nacional de España stands out, The Buscón, in addition to the realization of live programs from the Plaza Mayor of the town of La Mancha and special programming from RTVE Castilla-La Mancha.
One of the great milestones of this edition will be the premiere, in the historic Corral de Comedias, of the radio adaptation of Buscón's life story, called Don Pablos, the famous novel by Francisco de Quevedo, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of its publication.
The production, jointly promoted by RNE's Ficción Sonora and the Almagro Festival, proposes a version respectful of the original language, but adapted to contemporary audiences. The adaptation is carried out by the writer and specialist in Golden Age literature Arturo Echavarren, who has worked to keep the essence of the work intact while facilitating its understanding.
The cast is headed by Arturo Querejeta, who plays an adult Pablos, while Nicolás Illoro plays the protagonist in his youth. The cast is completed with Rebeca Hernando, Juan Suárez, Rodri Martín, Jon Samaniego, Pedro Muñoz, Miguel Valiente, Amaya Prieto, César Gil and Irene Rivas, who play the more than thirty characters present in this adaptation.
The production is directed by Benigno Moreno, while the production and sound design have been developed by Mayca Aguilera.
Live production from the Plaza Mayor
As part of its technical deployment, Radio Nacional has installed a mobile studio in the Plaza Mayor of Almagro, from where it will broadcast some of its main cultural spaces. The programming includes the realization of The Critical Eye, Culture with ñ, from Radio Exterior, and Tomorrow more, bringing the festival activity closer to the national audience through live broadcasts.
In parallel, RTVE Play offers a special program Attention Works, recorded from Almagro, which includes an interview with Laila Ripoll and a tour of the event's programming.
For its part, the RTVE Territorial Center in Castilla-La Mancha also reinforces its presence at the festival through special broadcasts for both radio and television. These include a regional RNE news program carried out from the mobile studio, interviews with those responsible for sound fiction and special TVE programs from different spaces of the event.
Likewise, RTVE Play will broadcast the representation of The Buscón, expanding the reach of this sound production through the digital platform.
Until the closing of the festival, on July 26, both RNE and TVE Castilla-La Mancha will make daily connections to inform about the event's programming, which in addition to theatrical performances includes workshops, meetings, conferences and training activities, consolidating RTVE's role as one of the main dissemination partners of the Almagro International Classical Theater Festival.
