3D, together with file-based workflows, highlighting its virtualization concept, and high definition help Quantel take flight.

After its particular annus horribilis experienced since 2008 and the beginning of this year, in which the English company based in Newbury was forced to undertake a drastic cost reduction with the consequence of numerous layoffs and practically no presence at fairs, Quantel seems to be beginning to see the light. Its firm commitment from the first moment to stereoscopy (Pablo was one of the first systems that integrated a comfortable and flexible workflow for 3D) and to work based on files with resolutions even above high definition, are beginning to bear fruit. Advanced technologies such as Genetic Engineering, media Mission management, or the advanced virtualization concept applied to several of its solutions, have once again placed Quantel at the forefront of the industry.

Despite the difficult international financial situation, Quantel has managed to increase its turnover by 12% in the period from September 2008 to the same month in 2009, placing it at 39.1 million pounds. Still pending audit, the operating profit would be four million pounds, the highest since 2000. To get an idea of the 360-degree turnaround in the company's management, it is worth remembering that in the period September 2007-2008, Quantel assumed losses of eleven and a half million pounds.

It is curious to see how Quantel, which had been carrying out intense and very expensive R&D work, perhaps even ahead of market demand before the start of the global crisis, now seems to be back from a situation in which its competition is still on its way.

The English multinational has already announced that in the coming months it will hire around twenty professionals to once again provide strength to its prestigious research and development department.
