New Sapec satellite headend for RTVE

RTVE selects Sapec for the supply, installation, configuration and commissioning of the satellite platform headend for Europe. The new header will process Canal 24 Horas and TVE Internacional Europa, as well as the RNE stations.

Sapec, a company specialized in solutions for the transmission of video and audio signals, has been selected by RTVE for the supply, installation, configuration and commissioning of a new headend for the satellite platform for Europe. The new equipment will replace the current one, maintaining full compatibility with current sources as well as with existing receivers.

The programs that the new header will process are Canal 24 Horas and TVE Internacional Europa, as well as RNE 1, RNE 3, RNE 4, RNE 5, Radio Clásica and REE.

MPEG-2 encoding

The new headend consists of MPEG-2 (MVE-2010) encoders, with SDI inputs, eight audio and two ASI outputs. These encoders will be mounted on a two-RU MVR2000 chassis with dual redundant AC-DC power supply and capacity for four encoder modules. Several multiplexers (MTS-1400) with six DVB-ASI inputs and two ASI outputs will also be supplied, allowing the generation of up to four virtual outputs. Both the encoders and multiplexers will be in 1+1 configuration.

The headend will have the Sapec NMS-1000 management software, which allows remote control of all equipment for changing parameters as well as configuration and alarm management.

Sapec will also provide comprehensive maintenance of the headend, both software and hardware for a period of four years.
