Envivio has announced the HEVC Early Access Program (Programa de Acceso Anticipado al HEVC) for customers who want to implement H.265 encoding. To this end, it has closed an agreement with Broadcom Corporation, a company specialized in semiconductors for wired or wireless communications, in order to work together on HEVC coding interoperability to offer a reliable and proven solution in future commercial developments.

Both companies will showcase their technologies at NAB 2013, highlighting testing of HD streams encoded in HEVC by the Envivio Muse application and decoded by Broadcom BCM7445.

HEVC serves for live or on-demand applications and will be available for new installations or with software upgrades for Envivio Muse customers, whose services run on the Envivio 4Caster G4 application or HP servers. The first commercial software developments with HEVC are expected to reach selected customers later this year.

Julien Signès, CEO of Envivio, highlighted that “HEVC offers countless advantages for operators by allowing a high definition experience for multi-screen and OTT at bit rates that respond to the band requirements in this type of services.”

For his part, John Gleiter, vice president of product marketing at Broadcom, added that “our collaboration with Envivio will allow us to improve the user experience, both in multi-screen and in the future Ultra High Definition 4K, thus taking the HD viewing experience to another level.”
