Grass Valley en IBC 2013

Grass Valley LDX Compact webAt this IBC, Grass Valley launches its new series of compact LDX 80 camera bodies, especially designed for productions that require robotic systems or fixed installations.

This proposal offers the same performance and uses the same C2IP camera control system as the LDX range, with high image quality, great flexibility and efficiency… and at a low price.

This compact device has a 2/3-inch Xensium-FT CMOS sensor and its integration with third-party control systems promises to be really simple.

Grass Valley Command Center

CommandCenter

Grass Valley has introduced its new CommandCenter software application in Amsterdam, designed with advanced features to configure, control, monitor and diagnose a variety of transmission infrastructure devices on-site or remotely. This solution makes signal management much easier and more cost-effective within broadcast operations, helping to alleviate the complexity of today's broadcast infrastructure workflows.

With an intuitive user interface, CommandCenter gives broadcasters a comprehensive set of tools to truly customize their workflows. This flexibility offers time-saving benefits, allowing operators to save used configurations as template files, or save them to the clipboard for quick copying to other selected devices in the workflow. Remotely, users can configure and run complex workflows quickly, with diagnostics and event notification via hierarchical system status.

CommandCenter uses a variety of standard IT-based technologies to enable group-managed usage. A standard database application can record, view, and archive historical workflow events, along with storing user-defined aspects of each device's configuration. This database can also be redefined to match the user's needs.

For system administration, up to 64 user groups can be defined, and for each group the access level can be limited. Users can add and assign groups, each with their own password. This ensures that CommandCenter can be used in operations where conditional access security is required.

Grass Valley on CNBC's BSkyB

Grass Valley has announced at IBC that British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB), the largest pay television network in the United Kingdom and Ireland with more than 10 million subscribers, has adopted the Ignite automated production system to produce its sports programs on Sky News. Ignite, as a scalable HD solution, has been integrated with BSkyB's existing Grass Valley solutions, including two LDK 8000 cameras and a Karrera mixer, as well as third-party technologies.

CNBCOn the other hand, CNBC has trusted Grass Valley solutions to improve its workflow when producing and airing its news in a multi-platform environment.

Steve Fastook, Senior Vice President of Operations and Engineering at CNBC, said: "As a global leader in business news, it is imperative that CNBC works faster and more effectively to share content across all of our platforms. With this new solution we have successfully deployed an infrastructure that optimizes our performance and helps us for the future of our ecosystem."

The solution includes a complete set of production tools including GV Stratus, K2 Summit servers, Edius non-linear editing systems and a K2 SAN HD capable of up to 17,000 hours.

This package of products and services allows CNBC access to all authorized personnel to media regardless of where it is stored, with immediate access to the content being recorded and in parallel to the assets being worked on in a collaborative environment.
