Time Warner Cable Sport tests 4K production with ChyronHego, Sony and Evertz
Time Warner in collaboration with IMS Productions carry out a series of sports broadcasts in Ultra High Definition with technology from ChyronHego, Sony and Evertz.
Mosaic XL and Lyric PRO graphics solutions from ChyronHego have been put to the test by Time Warner Cable Sports and IMS Productins in a series of Ultra High Definition 4K production tests.
The first test took place during a Division I football game on December 19 in Carson, California. That test was completed on December 23 with the 4K broadcast of a match between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors from the Staples Center. Although the Time Warner Cable Sports 4K broadcasts were closed tests, both games were produced and televised in high definition.
Robby Greene, president of IMS Productions, highlighted that “thanks to the participation of ChyronHego and other technology providers, the tests have been a great success and have provided us with valuable information about the characteristics and requirements of video / 4K UHDTV formats and their impact on production and distribution systems.”
For the seamless creation of all match graphics, IMS Productions used a custom pipeline version of the Mosaic XL graphics platform running on top of ChyronHego's Lyric PRO rendering engine.
Both encounters were caught on camera. Sony F55, with repeats provided by four systems Evertz DreamCatcher and routing and switching signals from Evertz and Sony equipment.
