FTTH are growing in Spain at a rate of more than 100,000 lines per month
77.5% of the total FTTH lines correspond to Telefónica, with a fleet of 1.8 million lines.
The latest report from the National Markets and Competition Commission (CNMC) highlights that in the month of July the fixed broadband fleet increased by 12,455 lines to a total of 12,872,602.
DSL lines decreased this month by 102,156, while HFC lines decreased by 1,146 lines.
For its part, the total number of FTTH lines exceeded 2.3 million, with growth in the month of more than 100,000 lines.
77.5% of the total FTTH lines correspond to Telefónica, with a fleet of 1.8 million lines. At an annual level, compared to July 2014, the increase of 1.3 million FTTH lines stands out, compared to the loss of 950,000 lines with DSL technology.
In both June and July Telefónica added new lines to its fixed broadband park after the losses recorded in April and May.
In July 2015, Telefónica's market share for fixed broadband lines was 2.1 percentage points lower than in July 2014, while that of the rest of the operators increased.
At the wholesale level, the total number of indirect access lines increased by 10,086 in the month of July, which represented a 14.3% year-on-year growth. Since the end of 2014, this growth is mainly due to the NEBA service; Specifically, this month both the ADSL IP and GIGADSL services reduced lines, while NEBA added 15,193 new lines.
The total number of unbundled loops, which began to decrease in December 2014, lost 29,697 in this last month.
