The blockbuster, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, wins eleven statuettes and sweeps the technical categories.

The Auditorium Fórum-CCIB Auditorium hosted the IX edition of the Gaudí Awards of the Catalan Cinema Academy last night. The gala produced by the Academy itself, Santa Pereza Producciones and the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation and directed by Lluís Danés was hosted by the actor Bruno Oro.

The super production A monster is coming a verme, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, was the great winner of the night, winning eight of the eleven statuettes for which it aspired. In addition to the awards for best direction and best film in a non-Catalan language, the film has swept the technical categories by winning awards for best production direction, editing, photography, visual effects, artistic direction and sound.

La propera pell, by Isaki Lacuesta and Isa Campos, despite having fourteen nominations, had to settle for the Gaudí for best film in the Catalan language, best leading actress, for Emma Suárez, and best script.

Another of the productions that started as a favorite with eleven nominations, 100 metros, achieved two Gaudí for best supporting performance, for Alexandra Jiménez and Karra Elejalde.

The awards that recognize the best costumes, makeup and hair have gone to the period film The death of Louis XIV, by Albert Serra.

The president of the Acadèmia del Cinema Català, Isona Passola, took advantage of this festive and demanding ceremony to remember that the Generalitat has considerably reduced its investment in Catalan cinema.

During the gala, the actor José María Pou received the Gaudí Honor-Miquel Porter Award for his career.
