ViuTv in Hong Kong prepares its audio for IP with Calrec
The Artemis Light, Brio12, Brio36 consoles and an AoIP interface from Calrec make up ViuTv's new audio over IP installation.
Hong Kong's free-to-air television network ViuTv is preparing for a future of audio over IP with the purchase of a console Artemis Light, a Brio12, a Brio36 and one AoIP interface of Calrec. ViuTV produces a wide range of entertainment programs and is especially known for its small live performances and talk shows.
Mike Lau, assistant vice president of production and facilities at ViuTV, highlights that "the consoles are incredibly easy to use, vital when used by a variety of operators through a variety of outputs. They are very reliable and with great sound quality. We also wanted to be able to meet our current network requirements and at the same time prepare for an IP future, as the transition occurs in our broader infrastructure. Calrec's technology and after-sales service gave us the confidence to make this change."
The Artemis Light is located in Studio 1, which is used for general entertainment content as well as game shows and live performances. The Brio36 is being used for talk shows in Studio 2 with the Brio12 in Studio 1 acting as backup. The broadcaster is using MADI and Dante: the first for intercom connectivity and the second for connection to a live PA mixing console, for multitrack recording and wireless microphone connections.
Anthony Harrison, Director of International Sales at Calrec, notes that "as a new customer, ViuTv was looking for a fresh and modern audio setup to help it transition to an IP-based environment. Helping radio and TV broadcasters make that transition has been central to our product roadmap for a considerable time. We are also very pleased that ViuTV recognizes the quality of our consoles and the service we have provided, in combination with Jolly Pro Audio."
Commissioning, consultation and additional support were managed by Calrec's official distributor in Hong Kong, Jolly Pro Audio.
